Amazing visit toWilliam Lane Ltd. foundry, to see moulds being made and metal being poured, plus a chance to see 19thC furnace structures and other archaeology in place. This was a real treat, and I feel inspired to get into my own workshop and do some more silver casting.
Stuart Duffy and the guys really are expert in their craft, and have a real infectious passion and care for the history of what they do.
An evocative collection of rescued metalwork and bespoke contemporary pieces displayed around the workshop areas reflected the history of the foundry in it's location and also the memorial and historical tradition of cast metal public sculpture.
