Papercut Drawings: illustrations cut from recycled card

I’ve always loved turning a drawing into an object - such as laser cut projects, cut-and-make activities, or even having a repeat pattern applied to fabric - so I am more than happy with my Cricut Maker, which I can use to turn a drawing into a cut paper artwork or decoration.

Cut from recycled card, I’ve added some garlands and decorations to my Etsy store.

Creating interesting shadows and silhouettes is also something that I do, and these papercut designs create a lovely effect as shadow puppets.

Playing with light and shadow, and projection, is mesmerising. Check my Practice section, for some of my previous projects using vintage projection equipment and lighting.

From a drawing: this one is and Ipad drawing using Procreate and Ipad Pencil. I wanted to focus on snow, and festive decorations, but the designs refer to the harsher more winter aspects of snow, that I don’t enjoy, such as sleet, and snowballs.
